I am pleased to report that the 'gas crisis' has been averted partially
through prudent use of the microwave oven. We enjoyed an excellent lasagne
for dinner last night which been defrosted and reheated in the microwave.
This was accompanied by coleslaw and a glass of white wine.

The forecast reduction in wind speed has not occurred and we have enjoyed
15-20 knot winds on or just forward of the beam for the last two days.
These have pushed us forward at speeds between 7 and 9 knots enabling us to
rapidly close on our destination which is now just 82 nautical miles away.
We placed our 10 euro bets on the arrival time yesterday when we still
believed the winds would moderate, so even the most optimistic choice looks
like it will be bettered by a wide margin.

With our imminent arrival in Portugese territory and the EU local language
training is proceeding with great gusto. Sean, who is a fluent Portugesev
speaker, is the master in charge and has defined the essential vocabulary as
follows:

Por favor - Please
Cerveja - Beer
Obrigado - Thank you
Ci/No - Yes/No
Bom - Good
Saude - Cheers/Slainte
Banhiero - Toilet
Qual O Preso - How Much?

With the above, we should have all situations covered.
