Alicante to Olbia – Some pictures

Not a full blog, but some pictures from the first half of our summer sailing.

The Real Club de Regates in Alicante is preferable to the main marina.

Elche is the palm tree capital of Spain

With a wonderful garden

Full of flowers, trees, cacti, terrapins and ducks.

Thence to Calpe with the outstanding rock

Whence we crossed to Ibiza, visiting San Antoni & Cala Blanca. A good sail across to Mallorca and a couple of days in Soller before a night at anchor in Cala San Vicente with the beautiful red rocks in the dawn.

Crossing to Menorca we stopped first in Ciutadella – almost a home from home -

Before spending a night in Cala Alguyrens on the north coast – another favourite spot.

We spent a few windy days in Marina Mahon, lunching with Dereka and visiting Joss Goulder, renting Es Ventals

Taking a brief weather window we crossed to Stintino in Sardinia where we were gale bound for three days.

For the first time we visited Assinara, taking one of the visitors’ buoys, and going ashore to the old quarantine station and seeing the white asses.

Castelsardo on the hill is very attractive and the marina also has a large supermarket at the end of the pontoon and a laundrette.

We have anchored many times in Cala Corsara in the Maddalena Islands – always attractive despite the tripper boats.

Stopping in Cala Gavetta in La Maddalena, we visited Garibaldi’s house.

Bonifacio is amazing fro the sea

And also the view from the castle.

Here we were joined by Simon & Judith Mitchell,

Sailing with them to Olbia.

After they left we spent a couple of nights anchored off Isola Tavolara

Before being lifted out on 5th July in Cantieri di Olbia and flying home that day.
