We spent a few days anchored outside Jolly Harbour dodging showers and squalls. We said goodbye to Bill and Lori and wished them a safe passage to the Azores and beyond, helped Keith and Sarah take the sails off their boat ready for it to be shipped home, spent some time with Aurelija and Julius who we first met them in Mayreau, did some maintenance, put some diesel in Innamorata and spent the last of our EC dollars.

We really were ready to move on and left at first light this morning, for the first hour we were worried that the wind was a little too light for a change but it soon picked up and we were sailing soon after 7, a couple of hours later I came in to make a cup of tea and was just thinking I could hear water when the bilge alarm went off, it soon became apparent that we had a fair amount of water under the engine and Steve quickly shut the engine water intake seacock, the raw water hose to the gearbox heat exchanger had come off – this happened before on my birthday, we think the cause was the jubilee clip which when Steve looked at it was broken, so not doing up properly it was replaced by a new one, we are glad we fitted the alarm after the last episode at least we know it works well! After that we had a reasonable sail up past Nevis, the wind eased a little as we sailed past St Kitts but picked up again for the last few miles and we arrived at 17.30 and anchored below the old town, tomorrow we will go ashore – check in and explore this little Dutch island.
The north part of St Kitts looking very green as we sailed past.
