The sky was a little better this morning so we both went ashore to have a look at Clifton.

We started with a visit to Customs to begin the clearing out process from St Vincent and the Grenadines.  Customs was reasonably straightforward and we were directed to the Immigration office in town but due to short staffing the one officer on duty was at the airport.  We walked around Clifton.  There was more there by way of shops, cafes and restaurants than we remember but it was, if anything, even more run down.  We are coming to the end of the season now though which might explain the the feeling of abandonment.

The minimarts are rather mini - but colourful:-

We went to the Anchorage Hotel for a drink and to use their internet.  We remember this place as being quite posh but it was looking rather sad.  They used to have a pool with lobster in but this was dry, perhaps because the lobster season ends tomorrow.

After lunch I walked to the airport and was met by a very friendly Immigration officer.  The whole clearing out experience was much more positive than my recollection of last time, which we think was about 12 years ago on holiday.

We returned to the boat and had a swim and decided to delay departure until tomorrow so we could visit the Bourganvillia Restaurant who had confirmed they had some lobster remaining.  When we returned in the evening we saw Dave and Angela who we met recently on their new catamaran 'Nutmeg' in Admiralty Bay Bequia.  They have been cruising the Caribbean islands for the last 8 summers on various boats and have been a mine of information.  Unfortunately the restaurant had run out of 'whole' lobsters - David and Angela had had the last ones! - but we had a very nice spaghetti with 'lobster bits'.  We joined David and Angela for a drink afterwards and it was a very nice evening.
