We left Ragusa Marina at 9.30am and motored west along the south coast of Sicily.  We intended to stop at Licata but decided to keep going and take advantage of the calm seas.

In the end we continued overnight to the Egadi Islands which lie just to the west of Sicily and anchored away from the ferry dock in the main harbour on Favignana Island at 6am on Thursday morning and went to bed.  We were woken at 8am by two VERY loud blasts of a horn on a large ferry ship that sounded extremely close.  We lept up in time to see the ferry turning just beside us and decided it would be advantageous to try to find another spot!   This we did and we saw over the next couple of days that, when the wind changed direction, the ferries didn't need to turn in that spot again!

We took the dinghy ashore to explore the pretty little village.  We did our normal recce for the following day and hunted down the supermarket, butcher and an internet cafe and established that there were no laundry facilities.
