The Gordon River was fantastic, such a different landscape compared to Port Davey’s button grass plains and low scrub. We went up as far as Eagle Creek, a lovely rainforest walk. So lucky with the weather, can imagine how dismal it would be in the rain. They get 3 metres of rain here a year, but we’ve had sunshine.

Last night we parked in Farm Cove in Macquarie Harbour, a nice bay just outside the Gordon. When Sarah Island was in full swing as a penal colony they used this area to grow food and the soldiers lived on an island in the bay.

We set the net and crossed a small bush track to a beach on the harbour side. Lots of rubbish to pick up. Also tons of Huon Pine bits, we have seen so much Huon Pine lying on beaches there is no way its running short.

This morning checked the net and two brown trout and one big salmon, food for the next few days.

We arrived back in Strahan at lunch time, just as most of the Round Tasmania Cruise fleet was arriving. We plan to leave tomorrow for 3 Humock Island or straight to King Is depending on the weather. It all looks good for a night passage up the rest of the west coast with the aim of being at Cape Grim around lunch time Tuesday.
