We started with a botany lesson, beautiful day and off we went in the tinnie to the Celery Top Islands. Their claim to fame is that no fire has been near the islands for hundreds of years so the biodiversity is very special. We saw one very old Celery Top Pine and Cathy had never seen one so old. Very straight and very big. Walking around the island we collected native pepper for the grinder and saw many different types of trees and quite a few native flowers were out.

Then back to the boat and managed to get the girls to climb Mt Beattie and the view was again special.

Because the area is so sensitive we can’t empty the you know what so we decided to come outside the special area and anchor just south of the Breaksea Is. Weather still very good here and a few good walks planned for tomorrow.

Caught three flatties and a few baby coutta that have gone straight into the cray pot– fingers crossed.
