Wow, what a day. We left Recherche Bay at 0530 in tandem with Cathy & Ian in their cray boat Juliene, with the aim of going to Louisa bay, or if the weather threatened, the whole way around to Port Davey. Day started well with light winds and a very nice sunrise. Headed south around the headlands, sharp  abrupt and well wooded, not the most hospitable land one could see. As we rounded South Cape in bright sunshine and flat calm seas both boats had caught at least one barracouta to bait the cray pots so well on the way. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular, distant mountains, wooded hills, sandy beaches and islands around us. We stayed in close to land as the views were so good.

Arrived at Louisa Bay , flat calm, sun shining (not hot, Tasmanian hot) so set the first pot then went in behind Louisa Island to anchor. Ian set a net (which is legal down here) and we all went ashore for a walk. Louie was in seventh heaven, seagulls chasing her or she them, white sand and, in the distance, some hikers. The water coming out of Louisa creek was an amazing shiraz colour from tannins. Then came back checked the net and bagged two big trumpeter. A quick siesta, followed by Cathy’s scones jam and cream, and back to the fishing, more trumpeter , some dog sharks in the cray pot followed to the surface by a monster grey shark the length of the dingy. That sorted the team as Cathy and Caro had just finished swimming back at the boats.

Lots of fish cleaning but still no crayfish. Awesome dinner with abalone entrée which Ian had dived for and fresh fish. Think I have gone to heaven.
