Left dock at 0545 this morning, just after high water hoping to take the ebbing tide down. A full 3knts behind us and the old girl cracked 10 knts. Not long and we were at the bar, well I had not planned for the 20knt Nly meeting this rush of bloody water, white caps, tidal races and us spinning out looking for clear water, must admit not a fan of white across the channel. Put that down to experience and Caro said she wasn’t concerned (looking aft through binoculars at leads) which was good as I was shitting enough for two.

The plan was to get half way across Banks Straight before the westerly change came thru, missed it by that much. Big, big seas, wind against tide so all in all just perfect.

Finally made it to Eddystone Pt and got in close and finally stopped rolling.

Came down to a nice little bay perfect to hide from a westerly and only in Tasmania, we finish with a NEly swell and a SEly wind, so rolly polly, expecting it to go west a bit later and just for a change blow hard.

Louie not happy and Caro coping well.

Just heard from Kay that there are fires just behind Morning Bay, she’s got the fire pump out and two water bombers are working on it. Makes our day look easy. All the best guys. Fingers crossed.
