Position 49:26N 11:01E in motor boat club Nurnburg in the Main Donau Canal.
Today (Friday) we entered the Main Donau Canal which links the Rhine and
the Danube rivers. The canal is not much different to any other canals
except for the size of the locks.174 km long with 16 locks some rising 25
metres!! Today we went through 6 locks and travelled 67 km.
Taking over mrs boss , well we had a great time in Banburg we arrived in
time for the beer and wine fest, we managed to enjoy the wines and beers
of the area and headed home in a wobbly manner! Dave being the worst !
The boys had been sea scouts earlier in the day , a sports boat was
stranded in the river , mr Mannering , and uncle Bulgaria came to the
rescue! Gosh they love it would have even given up following the barge
in front which would have ment another hour to wait ! What men. We towed
them to the shore and headed on our way. Coming into one of the locks I
over loadedthe invertor , Dave says you know where it's is Julie , I
went under the seats and unfortunately turned the engine off! Panic you
would have thought I'd sunk the titanic, mr Mannering jumps up puts the
Anchour down, all problems averted.
The night before Bamburg we hoped to find a nice restaurant , bar etc
Unfortunately no! We ended up opening our fray bentos pies, which were
lovely with our gravey, watching the rain come down. We have had some
awful weather apparently not usual at this time of the year. Well it
certainly can rain.
Funny , when we went to other loos at the beer fest , each toilet had an
attendant, who went in and washed the loo before you used it! They are a
very clean people , the showers in all the small yacht harbours have been
immaculate. Everyone has been very helpful, we are now in Nuremberg yacht
harbour we have had a roast chicken, this little oven is brilliant at
that. One of the members is going to take one of the guys for fuel in the
morning, not that we are out but never pass a fuel station. Top up the
Gerry cans. Well pouring with rain again , will never moan about English
weather again. Nearly out of the canals ,and the locks only 10 more to do
, should be in Passau in three days , then on to Austria. Yodel, yodel,
eh.
