On Friday we set off from Wiesbaden 5 km from the junction with the River
Main and started going up the Main. The current here is much friendlier
with about 1 to 2 knots against. We went through 7 locks and covered 93 km
mooring in one of the four Boote Havn's in Aschaffenberg. A beautiful
City,Saturday we had a long and frustrating day held up in all the locks
by a 300 metre pusher barge through a mere 5locks and 56 km. The locks
shut at 10pm and with daylight fading we tied up to a ferry parked for the
night! We had to leave at 6am before the ferry started and when the locks
reopened! A better day passing through 6 locks and 72 km when the locks
shut at 2 pm (Sunday) We have passed the half way mark on our trip up the
River Main and are berthed in an excellent Yacht Club in Wernfeld.
Everyone friendly and helpful one member even driving us 20 km to a fuel
station. You pay in an honesty box!! And the facilities are second to none
and only 10 Euros for the night.
