We are still on a roller coaster ride waiting for the batteries. They were posted from the USA by Stephen on Thursday 21 August and were supposed to take three working days. The following Thursday we tracked them to Customs in Lisbon... this was bad news as it meant a possible delay of indefinite length! On Saturday we then found that they had been sent to Funchal, here on Madeira and we could expect them on Monday (today).... we were SO excited! We have now discovered that Customs in Funchal only operate from Tuesday - Thursday, so now we are hoping for some action tomorrow! We will let you know when we eventually depart for Gran Canaria...

In the meanwhile, the wait is not too bad... yours truly strolling along the walkway. The Captain's Pub is in the background, under the lighthouse. (I think I have finally worked out how to put photos into the text of my blog!)
