We had a good few days getting to know Cartegena a bit – keeping all the interesting sights until we come back for the winter, but exploring the old town and shops etc.  A fascinating place and should be a great winter base.  The only trouble is that is means retracing our steps from now on.  We discovered that the other marina is much cheaper, more central and better equipped, so that is currently 1st choice.

After refuelling we got away mid-morning and spent much of the day sailing into strong choppy seas – unexpected.  Still, we found some nice shelter behind Cabo de Palos, where we were visited by 10 or so teenager swimmers who had a ball coming over and resting on our boat!

The only negative was that D got “stung” by something blue  (maybe a Portuguese Man of War jellyfish?) which took the skin off the arm & blistered around it & hurt like a B for a while. All’s well 24hrs later though.
