After a great few hours sailing in strong winds (up to 28kts), we made an unscheduled stop to replace the failed engine extractor fan.  Luckily the nearest harbour (Lagos, pronounced “lagoosh”) has one of the largest chandleries in Portugal (almost as large as Lymington’s smallest!).  So a wet and windy trip ashore from the anchored boat was very productive: a new fan, some shopping, a chat to Sally and the use of a café’s wi-fi. We got soaked getting back through the choppy waves in nearly 30kts of wind, but at least the engine is working safely again (and much quieter to boot).

We'll sail back into Spain tomorrow; hopefully we’ll make it to the river Guardiana and maybe spend a day or 2 exploring its 20 miles of navigable waters.
