Peniche

Today we sailed through some very large areas of an almost blood red sea which stretched for miles and was probably plankton or algal bloom.  The local marina officer didn’t know anything about it.

Peniche is famed for its sea food, but in our case the place was spoilt by a thoroughly unpleasant crew from the Hamble who really didn’t want us to raft up, spoiling their precious metallic painted hull (what an idiotic finish to choose if it is that delicate).

Peniche was a characterful fishing town despite this with a large, forbidding fort which used to house political prisoners under the dictatorship of Salazar.

… and an escapee…
