We wanted to get going again before the winds died away, so weren’t surprised to start off in 40kt+ gusts as we left Mesolonghi.  The seas were a bit uncomfortably rolly for the first hour, but settled down OK.  We then entered the Ionian, so expected its next trick – the wind switched off for the last few hours across to Cephalonia, leaving a swell to frustrate our attempts to sail in the dying breeze.  What the hell, it was just another brilliant day’s sailing in the early season!  We’ve not got much more to say about Sami, having been there for several days last year, initially to meet with friends and then to wait out strong winds.  We did however have a great walk, past many goats, up to the ancient acropolis overlooking the town before we left next day.
