Title: Kiparissi

We started the day with an exhilarating “beat” – sailing as close to the wind as you can, tacking to make distance to windward.  After a while the wind did its usual thing, so engine on for an extremely hot motor to the next anchorage.  This place is well worth it though.  We are clearly in the Aegean again – whitewashed houses with blue paintwork galore.  We are in a big bay, surrounded by cliffs, mountains, woods, cypress trees, unexpectedly green and quite different from anything we’ve seen so far.

There must be a bit more wildlife in the seas around here, as we’ve seen a few birds (sheerwaters) and a good-sized pod of dolphins on the way up the coast.

The bay is quite open to the sea, so we had another rolly night, having to sleep across the bed to brace ourselves against the boat’s motion – we are lucky to have this option.  Why is it that as soon as there is no wind the boat always lies sideways to whatever swell there might be?
