Anchored in the Jezevica Canal anchorage between the small island of Badija and the island of Korcula. The fortified, historic town of Korcula is lovely, but very much a great tourist attraction. It is thought that the great merchant traveller Marco Polo may have been born there.
We were anchored not far away in the peaceful and quiet bay next to the beautiful Badija Island monastery. The island’s 14th century Franciscan Monastery was sequested by the state in 1950 and became a sports centre during the communist period. In 2003 it was handed back to the Francescan order and the ongoing restoration has brought the monastery back to its past spendour.
