Destination Chacala: 29 miles
Heading: 124 degrees Magnetic
Wind 5 to 8 NE
2-3 swell from NW

We left in a 2 to 3 foot swell, after a rolly night from 3 am, so Tracy said
lets go, after enjoying Isabela, but the thought of a better anchorage is
tempting. The sun is out, 8 knots of win, fishing line out, we just got the
weather forecast and there is a Tsunami warning from the Chili earth quake,
it is due in the next hour we will be in deep water so it will be
interesting if we see it, it will be moving in the opposite direction to the
current swell.
As we left Isabela the whales put on a show for the boys, great to see Alex
(aged 1 1/2) recognizing and spotting the whales blowing and surfacing,
there was a large pod, they must be breading off the island as we saw over
dinner last night not far from where we were anchored. But early in the
morning with a clear sea and sky, the water a nice blue, to see them 200feet
away swimming in the same direction as us is nice. The boys enjoyed it, from
the markings they looked like blue whales, but we are no experts.
Well the Tsunami time to arrive has past and we are still sailing along, I
think we did notice it at one stage as coarse direction changed with a surge
and the auto pilot had to compensate to bring us back, it knocked the
direction out by 15 to 20 degrees, as out in these depths we would only see
a surge wave underneath. Any way in the mean time we caught 2 fish, threw
one back and cleaned the other for dinner,(saves getting anything else out
of the freezer!!). We continue to see whales surfacing around us, and we see
one of the boats we saw at Isabella off to our port they are probably going
to San Blas, and there are plenty of shrimp boats out surprised they are out
this far as we are over 30 miles off the coast. All crew are happy as this
is probably the best sailing with the family we have done, in the 500 miles
we have covered since their arrival, we are 4 hours out from anchorage, time
to enjoy my novel "A wordl of My Own" by Robin Know Johnson, (the first
person the circumnavigate non stop, single handed) yes he is mad, but you
gain a great respect.
Just interrupted doing this blog to real in two more fish but threw them
back as they were bonito but still good sport for the boys to see and gives
me my upper arm work for the day.
