As the boys go off to bed, the rain patters down on the cabin top and we
complete our third day of steady rain, and yes we have had enough, the boat
needs to dry out. The challenge as we go south it can and will get wetter I
suspect.
We did have a break today and I took the boys over to a small beach where
we
played cricket and built some castles the idea was to get them out of the
boat. Sean and I had been playing Monopoly and in the afternoon Tracy
cooked
cookies with with them.
They have enjoyed the indoor time with their toys, and the fact that the
anchorage is calm is a great help, tomorrow we will go back to Cedros where
we were last weekend a very calm anchorage, and I should find some garbage
cans about 2 miles away at the ferry terminal. This will be also a good
launch point to cross the Gulf of Nicoya as we start down south on Sunday.
Speaking with some of the locals they say Oct to Dec can have some nasty
thunderstorms, strange as people say the rainy season ends when November
arrives, but who says nature has dates, and especially in a year like this.
We had some bays on that island which we wanted to explore and see the
amazing wildlife which is what I will remember Costa Rica for the birds and
the trees so close / hanging over the water.
We are eating ourselves down on supplies which is good the idea is to eat
ourselves out so we can buy on as needed basis for the short trips we will
do over the next month. We cannot have any food in the boat going back to
Australia.
