Today was a hot day, little breeze at Bahia De Sol (13:18.076N 88:53.524W),
but it is Tracy's 40th, the kids rose to excitement even though Tracy had a
bad nights sleep and really could have done with a couple more hours. The
boys delivered the birthday cards in Spanish (we had struggled to get them
in San Salvador last week), and a token present, her real one is another
lens for the camera which we determining how to get it down here.
I had rowed early and then seen the water was clear so dived the bottom to
find barnacles growing at rate of knots, (not surprising as the water
temperature here is 89 F), so out came the scrapper and I will dive the next
couple of mornings. You will see in the photos the morning shot from the bar
deck that Alex and I have coffee at each morning while Sean does violin. I
was able to sail the dinghy today heading down the estuary and back up even
against the 5 knot tide, some parts were slow, but it was nice and
manageable so I can train Sean here. To show the life style we dropped off
laundry 4 docks down 1/2 mile by dinghy, I did not have shoes on, we came
back 5 hours later to collect still no shoes or shirt, life is getting
simple, (a good thing).
Tonight/ afternoon we invited all the cruisers in for drinks and cake and
pizza for Tracy's 40th, up on the bar deck, I mixed up a bucket of PIMS with
all the fruit(mint or closest we could fine, lemons the size of soccer
balls, and apples), it was a big hit (nobody had heard of this PIMs before,
Tracy and had bottles of it from Kenya where we use it for sundowners).
Out they came with a big chocolate cake which Sean and Alex help finger then
blow out the candles. It was a good gathering but one of nicest parts was
skyping in Helen, Warren and Paul our US family so they could help us sing
and see the cake blow out, we were able to talk to them afterwards. It was
very important for Tracy as Paul, Helen and Warren we lived so close when in
US, and boys treat them as family it was just special to have them apart of
it, people were amazed we pulled it off.
Drinks and discussion carried on for a couple of hours afterwards (consuming
hard found champagne/ sparkling wine) and it is nice to see the barriers
break down and people just talk, discuss topics. My end of the table for
dinner was ion how you run watch shifts what the experiences are, we are all
doing it differently, and many of challengers we thought were unique to us
due to boys are common.
Tracy is now sleeping with the boys in Air conditioning as it is warm
tonight and happy, as the cruising community joined in.
Everything is possible!! Just takes effort!
