This was a 3 night and 3 day passage it was really our first chance to get
into a routine and the days pas quite quickly with many activities for the
boys, and sleeping spells, broken up by hauling in fish.
The temperature was very hot up in 36 degrees C high 90s F due to the fact
that we were sailing with the wind so on the boat we did not have lots of
wind, I even changed the angle to get some wind. The shift system worked
well with Gary been on board as you had 6 to 8 hours off at night so you
could get plenty of sleep, and Tracy stayed basically on her day schedule
with the boys.
On bigger passages we would sail more the issue on this one was we had to
get across the bad water, and then we wanted to make the high tide at El
Salvador to get over the bar.
The bar while exciting it certainly is not dangerous and looks worse than it
is, with plenty of clearance under the keep we had 10 feet (see photos) and
with the pilot it is a nice welcome, and I would certainly recommend this
spot Bahia De Sol, good safe , calm anchorage, moorings or docks, great bar,
and food, and very welcoming.
