Thursday, 9th June – On a totally stunning hot sunny day we left Port Douglas with a repaired, re-installed working generator, the ‘Turin Shroud’ was resurrected (for those who have not followed the ‘blog’, the ‘Turin Shroud’ is the very ancient second Genoa which got it’s name after going overboard in the middle of the Pacific and catching a fish which we didn’t know about until we got to Tahiti and discovered it’s rotting presence in the sail!)  The 2 genoas up are in preparation for some good downwind sailing through the Torres Straits.  We are once again fully provisioned and water tanks full as the next leg will not include any Marina stops – from here on we are in Aboriginal Lands.

We had planned to head out to Low Isles but with the glassy seas opted for a less secure anchorage at Snapper Island (hopefully named after Red Snapper Fish rather than the other snapper – the dreaded Salt Water Croc!
