Hi all,

After slowing Galatea down to 5.5 knots by reefing main and genoa heavily, starting noon Sunday, we arrived safely into the mooring field in Jamestown Bay, St Helena, at 08:30 Monday morning, February 13th.

So after about 1900 miles of water under the keel and just under 12 days we successfully completed leg 1 of our Cape Town to Gibraltar trip without serious mishap. It seems that there are a few other boats at mooring here awaiting spares to be shipped in or repairs to be made.

We have just had a pleasant breakfast/lunch catching up with friends we have met along the way over the years, including Ingvar and Seija from Sweden, Roar and Trude from Norway and Norm and Sara from Wales. This truly has been and continues to be a "compulsory" stopping point for vessels plying the South Atlantic and their esteemed crew including Joshua Slocum, Napoleon Bonaparte, Captain Cooke, Duke of Wellington, Charles Darwin, Edmund Haley, christmas tree morley and kev schroeder from Westville.

Seems like there is quite a bit to do here including swimming with whale sharks, visiting Napoleon's last home and first gravesite, and climbing the 699 stairs of the Jacob's ladder staircase for a majestic view over Galatea and friends moored in the bay.

So, that's it for now. Our best to all,

 Neil, Kev and Chris.
