Just two weeks since I left Bermuda, and really no complaints overall. Just the one complete wind hole yesterday, but by pressing the magic button marked 'start', the dear old diesel burst into life, and at dawn this morning, exactly 24 hours later, we were back in a SW airstream. It's a bit light, but pushing us faster than the engine managed when in 'economy' mode. I anticipate a bit more motoring over the next few days, but should be in the Azores early next week. Hannah does not get there for another three weeks, so a good rest, and I hope pleasant times. Here on board I am again on my way to San Francisco, but this time I have hitched a ride in the Joads' crumbling old Hudson, as they crawl out of the dust bowl of Oklahomah to start a new life on the West Coast. All courtesy of John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath. Having been rather worn down by the American accents and chatter all over Bermuda, Steinbecks exquisite writing is refreshing, a great joy. And a great bargain on Kindle! And a new life on the West Coast? Nothing new under the sun! Get your kicks on Route 66.

Cookery went well yesterday, great bread, but made too much, it will go bad before I can get to it all. Classic 'Fleck' stir fry veg currie last night, and for a change all the ingredients got cooked just right. Usually some things are raw, and some sad, soft and overdone.
