Five Islands

Today we head for Miami up the length of Biscayne Bay, which on the chart looks as if someone has taken a shallow bite out of the bottom of Florida.
Another still clear morning. It’s not often you see the clouds reflected on the water.

We even pulled the genoa out for a few hours, initially a bit optimistically but the wind did pick up a little by mid morning.

Miami and bridge #4. Once under the bridge we headed to the right and into the Marine Stadium anchorage (Virginia Key). Several boats were anchored but plenty of room for us. After dropping the pick and making sure Five Islands was secure we lowered the dinghy and headed back under the bridge, along the southern shore of Virginia Key across bear cut and into Crandon Marina on Key Biscayne for 20 gals (80 litres) of diesel. The mooring field here looked good and well maintained. The marina looked fairly tight for a catamaran to manoeuvre. Loaded up with our jerry cans we headed back to the boat.

This sleek black unit cruised into the anchorage and fiddled around for quite awhile up toward the end. When she turned around and passed us to go back out we realised they were shooting a movie or advert with camera, reflector and 4 actors/models on the bow of the boat doing the cuddly couple thing. The things you see in the US!!!!

Talking about things you see. These power boats were stacked 4 high. Not sure how secure they would be in a big blow.

And of course the lights of Miami. Nice place to spend the night, but we will head to Ft Lauderdale tomorrow to give us a day or 2 before the weather is due to close in.
