A bit of a frustrating day started with the Sat Phone not connecting to the ‘mailasail' server so not able to update our position on this blog, then exiting Bluefield Range the sun decided to hide behind some clouds so it was a little difficult to see the reefs and shallower water to make our way out to Rendezvous Cay, where we were hoping to do some snorkelling and Eli & Marla could do a scuba dive. No such luck. As we approached the island the guys on shore told us that we couldn’t come ashore (John thinks they were doing a photoshoot as there were multiple bikini clad gorgeous girls on the beach) the clouds continued to pass overhead and then there was nowhere really to anchor. Decision made to abandoned the attempt and head back in and try Middle Long Cay (which showed a beach in the guide book, also ‘The Moonlight Shadow Lodge’). Traversing yet more shallow water, having 2 dogs bark from the shore as we passed a fish camp on the southern end of the island, we finally found 2 small beaches located around the middle part of the island. We anchored, on the second attempt after John drove the tip of the anchor in to get it started (coral sand/rubble over rock). Took the dogs ashore for a run on the beach, which turned out to be a tiny strip of sand between the water and a swamp. Then to top it off Chispa was stung by something or stood on some fire coral requiring a dose of Benadryl and monitoring. She was very brave and was fine later that night.
