Five Islands

We anchored off the sand bar to the west of the northern end of the island. This is a beautiful little island with trees, coconut palms, lizards, pelicans and sandflies. The strongest strength ‘Off’ repellent is always in good supply on ‘Five Islands’ along with the mozzie coils. We went ashore and spent an hour letting the ‘adventure dogs’ Chispa & Coqui run around & dig holes while we sat in the water on a coral sand bar which extends off the northern end of the island. Very pleasant.
Moho Cay has 7 or 8 accomodation units which consist of a roofed platform with tents on them. These are not in use anymore and are slowly falling down, as tourists do not come any longer. Such a pity because it is quite lovely.

Five Islands at anchor off Moho Cay with 5 of the ‘Seven Hills’ (mainland Belize) in the background.

Sunrise at Moho Cay. The misty, humid morning gave the sun a red glow. The pelicans were feeding in the shallows off the northern point of the island and everyone was asleep on ‘Iguana Dance’. Just a little bit of magic.
