We are now making our way down toward Guatemala and decided that the weather looked favourable for an overnight stop at Moho Cays, about 6 hours south of Placencia. We pulled anchor (and the mud) at 0715 and headed out. 2 other boats had left just before us and both had raised their sails. This was encouraging as the weather had predicted light winds and as a consequence another motoring trip for us. We put up full sails and sailed downwind for about 3 hours. Due to our course we had to drop the main, but continued with the Genoa sheeted through the middle cleat (as per Liseron style on the Pacific crossing we did). We sailed the whole trip, wow we feel a bit like a sail boat again. We rounded the southern end of the Moho Cays and used the approach Iguana Dance had given us. We opted to anchor off the small cay to the north of Sth Moho to try and get a bit of protection from the wind which is now 17 gusting 22 Kts. The anchor set straight up and we are now bobbing from side to side with a bit of rock and roll but generally good. Chris Parker had been referring to the wind funnelling effect that impacts the Bay Islands and southern Belize. We now know what he was referring to. It should subside over night and we will see if we have enough for another sail tomorrow.

A pleasant way to spend several hours, sailing downwind in calm seas

Anchored off the small cay north of Sth Maho Cay. 17kts blowing but very little rock and roll.

South Moho Cay which has a caretaker named Jose and a lot of unused resort type accommodation. This is a favourite place of Eli and Marla to hang out and the adventure dogs get to run around.
