We finally arrived in Guanaja around 1pm today after motoring since 3pm yesterday. It was a pretty slow old night - the seas were glassy flat with no wind at all. We managed to dodge another couple of thunderstorms during the night but otherwise it was fairly uneventful. We keep in touch with Jens and Dani every 3 hours by Sat phone - for some reason we cannot communicate by VHF radio when we are more than a few miles apart. The Arwen crew had already arrived around breakfast and were anchored in a nice anchorage with 4 other monohulls. We followed a large catamaran (Kea, maybe NZ?) into the anchorage which arrived from the west at the same time we got here. We anchored behind a US mono with 2 adults, 3 kids and a dog - it must be a little crowded onboard. The water coming into Guanaja was crystal clear but when we went for a swim just after we arrived we were a bit disappointed - we wanted to check the anchor but couldn't locate it even though it is only in about 7.5 meters of water. It was fairly warm and with no breeze we still enjoyed the cooling off. It was then a quick tidy up of the boat and a couple of hours snooze to catch up on some lost sleep, although we will still sleep well tonight.

We will probably depart here tomorrow morning - we will download some weather files soon and discuss it with Jens and Dani but this is the most likely option at the moment. The breeze has just started to come back again so hopefully it will rebuild enough to allow us to sail as we do not want to motor the remaining 180 or so miles to Guatemala. There is another tropical wave system due here over the weekend which is forecast to head for Guatemala with a slight chance of developing into a tropical low so we need to be well tucked up somewhere before then.
