This evening we are anchored in a bay on the north side of Kong Frederik island. position 66:07N 053:36W.The Arctic Circle is 66:36 N so tomorrow when we travel towards Sisimut we will be entering the Arctic Circle. The champagne is in the fridge and ready to go!! We have just caught two large sized cod so dinner is also in the fridge! Today was idylic with Med style weather . No wind no fog and so hot we were in shorts and t shirts. Many whale sightings. Today was a leisurely day starting with a long walk across an island and lifting the anchor at twelve . A huge 29 n miles under motor arriving in the anchorage at four. Tomorrow we travel 55 n miles to Sisimut the second largest town in Greenland with a population of 5500 . Today I tried to download some pictures onto the diary so wait to see if I have been succesful!
The Arctic Circle is the latitude at which the sun does not set at the summer solstice nor rise at the winter solstice. The precise latitude depends on the sun's maximum declination in a given year.
