We have been in Nuuk for two weeks and hope to leave tomorrow heading North. We were only staying for two or three days, but a rigging check revealled stranding on one of the V1 stays. we decided to have a pair made up by Rousey at Ocean Rigging in Lymington and delivered by Fedex. They finally arrived on Monday and we spent the day changing the stay and retensioning the rig.
Repairing the Eberspacher heater turned into a lengthy job only back working today.
There could be worse places to be stuck and for sure we had plenty of North West Passage yachts coming and going with excellent company.
Aventura with Nick Carter waiting for Jimmy Cornel and crew to arrive. They left this morning heading for Aasiaat and Pond Inlet.
Suilven with John and Linda Andrews and Max. They are now in Aasiaat.
Arctic Tern with Grant and Pascal. They are I think in Aasiaat where they also have problems with one of their spreaders and are waiting for spares.
Catryn with Di Rice who sailed single handed from Ireland and is waiting for crew to arrive at the weekend.
Young Larry with Andrew and Maire Wilkes Authors of Arctic and Northern Waters (an excellent Pilot book).
Our extended stay gave Julie the opportunity to rejoin Festina Lente  and so we are now four Magnus and Laura and Nick and Julie. She has only been here a week and already owns a couple of supermarkets!
I will have to buy another Freezer as ours is over full.
There is a good Seamen's home (Somandshjemmet) in Nuuk showers, toilets, wifi, television and good cheap food. All the Yachts are rafted up sometimes seven deep on the Kutterkaj a long timber quay .(no water or electricity) but free! Nuuk is the Capital of Greenland with a population of 16000.Greenland ( the largest island in the World) has a population of 56000 ! There is a good Museum, many restaurants, a cinema and swimming pool. There are a number of well stocked supermarkets.
