we arrived in Nuuk, Greenland about midnight yesterday. It is 1215 n miles from Reyjkavik to Nuuk and we had a good sail completing the journey in seven days. We had to miss out on going through Prince Christian Sund as it was still ice blocked and instead had to round Cap Farvel and skirt round the ice limit. We saw our first iceberg near 63 N about thirty miles off the coast and from then on had to keep a close watch.. We also saw a pod of Whales- about six who swam all around the bow of the boat rather like dolphins do. They came as close as 1 metre from us! a tad scarey! We arrived just as the weather was turning nasty with the barometer down to 999 bar and the wind up to 30 knots. this is expected to continue for the next three days. So we have a holiday in Nuuk before moving on. We have cleared into Customs and with the Harbourmaster and will go across to the fuel station later today. Only one major job to do to try and repair the diesel heater which has broken! Yes it is COLD.
