We moved on from Gelibolu and into the Sea of Marmara on Sunday with a
good sail to Saraylar Koyu on the island of Marmara Adasi. This is the
Marble centre of the World. It is a beautiful island but the landscape has
been
destroyed by the Mining. We anchored in a sheltered bay and went swimming
where the temperature was 27 degrees! On Monday we set off early to sail
the 75 n miles to Setur Yalova Marina where we could become "legal" again
by checking in to Turkey and getting our transit log. We were in the
Marina by 15.30 only to be told that this is not a port of entry! We could
not stay and had to move across the bay to Pendik Marina on the Asian side
of Istanbul.Off we went to Pendik arriving there at seven o'clock by which
time everything was shut.Tuesday was spent with the help of an Agent
completing our entry formalities and in time to sail back to Yalova and be
reunited with our dinghy which we had left in the capable hand of our
neighbour Tom from Australia. We will be staying in Yalova until the 3rd
of July when we will move across to Atakoy Marina on the European side of
Istanbul to wait for Ania and Dave to arrive and complete our exit from
Turkey.
