Back the way we came.

After a very peaceful and beautiful evening at anchor we had a good sleep but weren’t In a hurry to get out of bed because the sun had to come up from behind the big lump of rock and certainly before I was prepared to go for a swim!

Swim happened water no warmer but a lovely spot for a swim. Then around 9.30 two tripper boats arrived decked in flags and absolutely full of people . The wedding guests. Men all in their dark jackets and white shirts and the woman In a variety of dresses. Their arrival on the quay was announced with much hooting of horns. So we spent quite a lot of time looking through the binoculars as they all went ashore. Not long after the little ferry boat decked in white ribbons left for the mainland we assumed to collect the bride. At 10.15 it arrived back with bride, photographers and one other person. We could see her getting out of the boat and managing a long train ( not quite as long as Megan’s but she looked lovely and was met by two little bridesmaids in sea green dresses. Unfortunately my iPhone doesn’t zoom in that close but few pictures below. Lots of clapping as she entered the field behind and we eventually heard some music. Presumably it was the end of the ceremony but a cloud of white balloons went up and lots more hooting. At that moment in time I was on the wheel and David was taking the anchor up and my phone was down stairs so sadly no photo. David didn’t even see them as concentrating on the job in hand.

So we left Isola Travolara and motored back on a gloriously sunny morning though the wind still chilly looking out for the dolphins we saw yesterday but not today. As we rounded the headland there was enough wind to sail for half an hour plus towards the harbour. So peaceful without the engine. We had hoped to find an anchorage near the marina so we could have lunch and get ourselves ready for entering the marina but it didn’t happen so we got the boat ready gently sailing under the genny and called up the marina. We were booked in but we didn’t know where to go and needed the help of the ‘maranera’. Message came back could we please wait they had a problem boat with no engine they were helping. After about half an hour they come out and guided us in and helped us onto the pontoon. We managed - I was a bit concerned as first time on our own this season and as David says a bow thruster which doesn't go to the left and crew with only a left arm 100% functional ( I can throw ropes with right arm but definitely very reluctant to pull anything right handed ) we do need help which the maraneres do give. Watching other boats come in we certainly don’t do too badly!

So lunch and a walk to find that needed ice cream which did find at one of the restaurants in the marina though not exactly what we wanted ( gelateria still not open) but it helped. We also set some washing going, made up the beds for new crew arrival, bit of cleaning and I got a ‘little fix’ of the royal wedding once on wi fi! We also realised supermarket was open so did the shopping too. We think just as well as marina much busier and quite a few charter boats obviously setting up and provisioning so we weren’t sure how much stuff would be available - it’s not that big a supermarket.

So we waited for new crew - Ian and Tom and at 7.30 they arrived from the airport In a taxi and little Tom just ran into HG’s arms and was just so excited to be here. He has certainly chatted non stop and just wanted to walk around the boat looking at everything. As it was getting late we dumped their stuff and went off to the restaurant which unlike the other night was very busy so just as well we’d booked a table.
