This is the hill we climbed up!!

Once we'd walked back down we went into a different part of town quieter, lots of lovely narrow back streets but soon got back into the very touristy part having had a well deserved ice cream

Interesting use of plastic bottles to decorate a wall?!

The bay at Naxos where we had hoped to anchor but swell too great when we arrived:-(

The map we had  showed steps all the way back to the station - google maps didn't but yes we walked down but half way down there had been a landslide but we could see a very narrow track which looked used so we carried on past the barrier and made it but pretty heart in mouth stuff for me. Got to the station to discover  big delays on trains in both direction fortunately announcements in English. We checked out buses at the bar nearby where you bought bus ticket to go up the hill but no buses to Riposta  only a train. In the end we had to wait an hour so not too bad but two pretty exhausted people. We did find a small trattoria near  the marina in Riposta which did the best food we've had this trip. We did return the next night. Sicilian wine is very good too.

As I said Riposta is not really a tourist destination though we have discovered several British and German  Boats overwinter there. The fish market and stalls and the fruit and veg on sale were again some of the best we've come across ' bellisimo  '
