Escapade of Rame
Richard & Julie Farrington

Grey and miserable...
Still, the light airs gave us the opportunity to replace the missing mainsail batten.  Except that we found that the original had exited via the top of the pocket, not the bottom... and the next one up was about to follow suit.  A phonecall to the nice ladies at Owen Sails ensued, then we ventured ashore to deliver the sail for some repairs.  Except that the Jaguar electrics decided to pack up; fortunately some fine Scots in the Leisure Centre Carpark came to Julie’s assistance and we ended up with a detour to replace the battery, before finally dropping the sail off at Tralee.  Back into town for a haggis lunch, then spent the afternoon searching for bargains in the lightweight walking waterproof clothing world.  Well, given the weather forecast, we either surrender to the rain or follow the Norwegian ethic  of ‘no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes’.
Still, we are now well dressed and have a plan coming together for the forthcoming visits of my cousin John (Saturday), Granny Watson, Nicky Heyworth and Meriel and the boys...
Still in Oban, though.  We did enter the Distillery today, but none passed my lips and I only parted with cash in a nearby delicatessen in exchange for shortbread and black pudding!
