Departed Mindelo on Saturday evening.  Very slow progress overnight due to almost complete lack of wind.  Today it has gradually returned and we think we now have the classic NE Trade wind – 12 to 15 knots on the starboard quarter.
Good spinnaker run this afternoon ended abruptly just before sunset when the head of the sail parted from the wire strop inside the snuffer.  A wet recovery but no damage – just a light line had secured the sail for 2000 miles – and order now restored.
The watermaker has gone on strike, after years of trouble free operation.  We have plenty water for the two week passage so this is not a issue  – just the introduction of submariners’ showers and a moratorium on hair washing!
Morale good!
