We got to Greenwich, NJ. Interesting approach through a little river meandering for ever through marsh land.
The marina had seen its heyday probably about 25 years ago and was in a state of deep neglect, especially the showers which I will be kind enough not to describe to you!
We tried to phone for a taxi to go to the nearest town, Brigdeton, but kept on loosing the signal so we approached a couple who were having a Bbq in their backyard (houses very rarely have fences here in the States). They were very helpful and generous and let us use their phone. Mike had a lot of problems telling the taxi where to pick us up - they could not understand "Pier" road and kept on pronouncing it "Pie - r" road! Anyway it eventually turned up and off we went to the town which again was surely buzzing in Victorian days, still some lovely buildings around, but nothing else to do or see. It seemed only populated by Latin Americans or Blacks. Strange. However, the people who helped us with the taxi told us where to go to eat so we found the Coach Room restaurant and had a good meal. We left with our doggy bag though! Delicious Margaritas!!!
Beautiful countryside with huge farms, fruit trees, sugar canes. Gorgeous wood built houses. Quiet,. Peaceful. We all like it.
Everyone was in bed by 21.30. It had been a long haul since NY.
We did some boat chores this morning and laundry etc and left at about noon today.
Motoring up the Delaware river now approaching the Delaware/Chesapeake Canal. We will go through it in a few minutes from now. Destination Georgetown in the Chesapeake Bay.
Sun is out. Everyone on board is happy so life is good!
