Back in the water. The splash was smooth and everything on board is working fine...except our propeller which turns the wrong way, i.e. we go forward when in reverse and vice versa. This is what we feared would happened. We can’t therefore use the engine and are stuck in the marina. We feel a bit depressed. A new propeller would have to be imported from Europe or possibly NZ or Oz and would take weeks to be delivered. However, Mike talked to Keith last night, British owner of a beautiful sailing yacht registered here in Fiji, who is also an ex engineer. He gave some very useful advice. He said we could weld our broken MaxiProp propeller so it becomes effectively a fixed one and that should work fine until we get to Australia. So our mission today is to find a good welding guy. But it will have to wait until the final of the World Cup is over. It is happening live here as I write and Mike is watching...
More later.
