Still on the hard! All seemed to be going well last week until we took our MaxiProp propeller off to replace the cutlass bearing, only to discover that several teeth of the propeller were broken. After some research we were informed that it would take about a month to get a new propeller delivered here and that repairing the existing one was not feasible. Fortunately, when we bought the boat there was a spare 2 blade propeller onboard which we can only assume was the original one from when the boat was built. We have put it on and it fits perfectly. In the meantime, the bottom has been sprayed, last antifouling coat was sprayed on this morning. So if all the little remaining bits and pieces can be finished this afternoon and tomorrow morning we should be splashed tomorrow lunch time. Only then will we able to check if the propeller is working fine or not. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
It will be nice to be back on board in the water. The one room cottage where we have been staying since we arrived is confortable enough but we are now longing to be back “home”.
We have met a very nice couple sailing on a 42ft Swan, Rod (American) and Elizabeth (German) and spent enjoyable evenings together. They left this morning for Musket Cove on Malolo Island. If all goes well with the boat we should be joining them middle of next week for a few days. We haven’t yet decided what to do after that. Possibly sail to Blue Lagoon, an anchorage North of the Yasawas or come back to Vuda, check out and sail to Vanuatu.
More news soon.
