Fai Tira in St Marys Scilly Islands 49:55:31N 6:18.93W

Hi and apologies for all the grammatical mistakes on the last blog!!

                          John in a burial chamber.

We are still in St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly. Our first night on anchor was a really uncomfortable one, we were subjected to severe swells that made it difficult to stay in bed, suppose it at least had the effect of giving us an idea of what’s to come. Peaceful night last night following our relocation by the harbourmaster, so at least we both woke refreshed, but still a little bleary eyed and a little tired after our cycle ride round St Marys the previous day, a great way to see the island and the sights which included a smallholding full of exotic animals,

We spent much of the ride on the coast path, thought that the island was flat, wrong!!

Anyhow today was always going to be a far more relaxed affair, and so it was. We woke to brilliant sunshine, what a difference to feel the warmth on your back.

By the time we had finished a leisurely breakfast and completed a few tasks, mainly sorting out paperwork, it was mid day. Our exploring today was restricted to St Marys and using our feet.

Pete’s been here on two previous occasions so we had the benefit of a little local knowledge, the walk around the fortifications most enjoyable with some great views. Back in the town, and conscious that we would soon be setting out for Spain, so it was a big shop, you’d think we were going away forever, suspect we’ll get used to this provisioning lark eventually and get it off to a fine art. Surprise, surprise we then ended in the pub,

once more meeting interesting people before heading back to the boat. Food preparation tonight was a combined effort, as the weather was still holding out, it was thought that it would be a good idea to christen the BBQ,

Pete drove it and I was the support with the salad, potatoes and other bits. A great way to end the day, sitting in the sunshine on the boat, eating and watching the world floating by.

Bye for now.

Pete and John.
