Title: First 24 Hours 13-9-2014

Left Plymouth at approx 1200 on the 12th, mainly folks there to wave us off and loads of good luck messages - thanks to all who were there in body or mind.

Sails up and out of the sound for a fairly boisterous first day, had to put a reef in at 1630 since the wind was 22 to 28 kn, much above forecast but fast, although bumpy sailing.

Got to Ushant this morning against tide, wind down, resorting to motoring to get through, now at position 47.47.2N 5.47.1W we are now sailing again doing approx 7kn towards Finisterre.

There is quite a big Atlantic swell running, long intervals between them, rocking the boat about quite a bit, but all is good, settled into our watch regime OK.

The Moonrise last night was spectacular and the moon kept us in light all night, and the Sunrise this morning was equally specatular, framing the two light houses on the island of Ushant.

I aim to post another blog tomorrow, with pictures to follow when in touch with wifi again,

John
