We are well on our way to Australia, done 320 nm with 480 nm to go. We had a good first day, motor-sailing and did over 150 nm, then overnight the wind died and we had to take in the sails and just motor. We have been motoring for about 30 hours, initially with almost 1 nm of current against us, but now we have some current with us, which is what we were expecting. There was no mention of an easterly current in any of the books we have read, but they do show a SW current.
We have seen a few other yachts, all of which we have been overtaking. We have a powerful engine and carry lots of diesel and don’t mind using it to get a quick passage. We have had a small amount of rain, but no squalls so far and the forecast is for continuing light winds. We are on schedule to arrive on Tuesday.
All well on board,
