We have continued to make just under 150 nm per day and have had our twin headsails out for several days without any sail changes. The winds have sometimes been very light and we have been down to about 5 knots of boat speed and at other times we are sailing very nicely at 7-7.5 knots and have even registered 10 knots speed over the ground when we have been surfing.

We are now really focussed on arriving during daylight on Saturday and will manage this easily if we continue with 140+ nm per day, however the forecast is for very light winds on Thursday and Friday – we may just have to motor for much of the last 2 days.

Our friends (Sean & Sabine) on Chevaldy arrived yesterday and Sabine says she is looking forward to a ‘rusty nail’ on Enchantress to celebrate.

Friends (Eric & Lynne) on the large catamaran Amarula have been having a difficult time. They left Las Perlas 2 days after us and missed  the weather window we had which allowed us to sail South until we picked up the trade winds. They did a great deal of motoring and when they finally made it far enough South to get the trade winds they managed to rip their mainsail and their brand new spinnaker. we’ll get the full story when they get to the Marquesas.

Other friends (Bruce & Kerry) on Haven, who left from Galapagos have bee making great time and should arrive at Hiva Ou about 3 days after us.
We should manage one or two nice parties and I am sure Sean will serenade us with his guitar.

Cheers,

D & S
