We have had slightly frustrating winds over the past 2 days, but the wind picked up last night and we had 15-25 E wind and we had a good sail with our twin headsails out. We have managed 288 nm over the past 48 hours and have only used the engine for battery charging. We are on schedule for a late Saturday or early Sunday arrival, but it is still too early to predict accurately (733 nm to go).
Our friends (Sean & Sabine) on Chevaldy are due to arrive tomorrow morning after 39 days at sea, They are a 30’ boat, so this is good going and a fantastic achievement to do a 4000 nm crossing in that size of boat.
The sun is shining this morning, we are doing 5.5 – 7.0 knots and all is well on board. We transferred 100 ltr of diesel from our jerry cans yesterday and managed this without spilling despite the rolly seas. We will need to work out how much duty free diesel we will want in the Marquesas as my recollection is that last time we had to declare this when we cleared into the islands and it was difficult to alter afterwards.
We had lovely fresh blueberry muffins this morning for breakfast, a great way to start the day.
