Today we had one large bite on the line both rather early. We believe a tuna, managed to break threw the leader and claim our lure as his. He will forever have our lure as a war prize from the battle.
With the wind dropping to 14 knots from straight behind and the large swell that kept knocking the wind out of the sails. Our speed over ground had dropped below 4.5 knots. It was time to put the engine on. With the engine going in full flow some of the crew undertook some running repairs to the boat, more cosmetic but necessary nonetheless. While other members enjoyed sleep and others trying to improve their vernacular.
We still haven’t seen any other vessel since leaving Cape Verde and it seems that we are now going to count planes and satellites on our watch so it doesn’t appear that we are quite this far from civilization. So far we have counted 1 satellite.
