Strong winds all and although they were head winds the tack we were on headed us straight to Newport. By morning the wind eased leaving a very lumpy sea which gradually sttled and we had a beautifulsunny day. The winds declined all day and we were becalmed by six oclock and it was a lovely balmy evening. What a change fromearly morning to evening?

Had to do more repairs on the mainsail while it was quiet. I'm afraid it is showing signsof the rough conditionswe've had!

Not far to go now,
