Well there is an air of excitement around the boat this evening - we can all smell the beer! We have rocketed downwind all day with an horrific confused sea state producing enormous waves that have done their best to push us towards Las Palmas and winds of up to 30 knots and as the evening draws in the conditions change just slightly - the wind eases just a little to make our journey a little less up and down more forward which is much more pleasant and it is noted that we are only 38 miles from our destination. Hurray!! Supper was a raucous affair with the off-watch not really heading for bed, just hanging around.

We have had a wholly uneventful day - no wildlife to speak of and no ships to play with - nothing. More celestial navigation classes and playing with the sextant on the bow together with a pilotage lesson into Las Palmas for Sam. All good practice.

The crew of P42 are once again on stand-by to catch our lines together with a lovely cool beer each - they are good!

So I return to my deck to give Erica a break and take the helm from her and thank you for your company from Malta to Las Palmas - via Sardinia, Southern Spain and Gibraltar!
