Like a typical touristboat we headed in to the very central part of Stockholm and drifted slowly opposite the royal castle.
When being in Stockholm the king (whose nickname used to be Tjabo) lives in one of the wings of the castle.
The old castle "Three Crowns" burned down 1697 and the young king of that time ,Carl XII ,managed to save his mother from the flames. The castle on the picture replaced "Three Crowns"
To the right in the picture is the royal opera built late 1700,and behind the castle is the houses of parliament. As seen Stockholm is built on loads of small islands and is often referred to as "Venice of the north".
We tied up in the guest harbour just beside "Gröna Lund " and went for dinner in Ulla Winblad, a restaurant my mother knew already in the fifties when she was dating my father.
On the picture in front of the entrance with her two granddaughters Carolina and Hanne
